My art challenges hierarchical notions in the art world that dismiss maternal consciousness. My intent is to challenge these labels of art that exclude work by women. The use of patterning connects me to the traditionally women's heritage of pattern making. Utilizing the grid, as well as "craft" materials and techniques in my art, are other ways in which I confront these notions. I intend to show in my art how the experience of motherhood has enriched and empowered me as an artist.
